MEDIA ADVISORY For Immediate Release (Norristown) -- December 7, 1998 -- A media briefing and demonstration of soon to be implemented enforcement policies and procedures at the Resource Recovery Facility in Plymouth Township will reveal how inspectors detect and handle waste that is ineligible under the new zero tipping fee system. Reporters, photographers and broadcast media should meet at the Montenay Administration Building in Plymouth Township at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 11. All will be given a brief overview of new system rules and regulations. Following the enforcement overview and safety briefing, individuals will be issued protective equipment, and join enforcement inspectors on the tipping floor where waste is delivered. Beginning January 1, 1999, the Waste System Authority of Eastern Montgomery County will be implementing a Waste Generation Fee system. Under this new system, haulers delivering eastern district waste will no longer pay a tipping fee to deliver waste to the plant. To deter ineligible waste from being delivered at a zero tipping fee, an escalating penalty system has been established and will be detailed at the briefing. |
